Lee Gee is now coordinating figure drawing sessions at The Hearing Room. For a suggested $10 donation, a model is provided for three hour sessions on Wednesdays nights from 7pm to 10pm. The donation is for paying the model, acquiring/building more easels and supplies and for the space.
This is a great opportunity for all levels to improve their drawing skills. Drop-in artists are welcome to participate. We are doing anatomy studies and not focusing on finished works.
Figure drawing at the beginning is really making generalizations about the body. When you consider how many sittings and hours artists in the past needed to capture a good likeness, our short modern sessions don't cut it. The more you know about the figure and the more confident your hand is the more information you can get in a one minute, ten minute or beyond pose. It takes practice!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED - Please come prepared to draw with your own supplies. You will need plenty of paper; I recommend 18”x24” Newsprint paper. Drawing tools are flexible and while you are welcome to use your medium of preference, I recommend charcoal (vines, sticks or pencils), a kneadable eraser and a hard eraser. It's also handy to have some wipes or a rag to clean your hands, and a snack.
